After initial statements that excluded the disc distribution of Grand Theft Auto VI at the time of launch, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, reiterated that it does not exclude a physical version in the future. The statement was made during an interview with IGN US, answering questions about the possible release of the game also in physical format. “I would not exclude anything at this stage,” said Zelnick, stating that the company’s current plan should not be considered definitive. Although Take-Two has not yet announced specific details about timing or content for a possible disc edition, the statement leaves open the possibility of a change of strategy. Rockstar Games' decision to focus exclusively on digital distribution at launch triggered a heated debate in the community, with many players who continue to prefer physical format for reasons related to conservation, resale and collecting. Zelnick defended Rockstar's choice, underlining that for large video games the disc no longer represents a particularly useful solution for the consumer, especially considering the high number of digital sales (over 90%) and the need for online updates. He also made it clear that the decision was not motivated by security concerns or the risk of leaking information before the exit.
