In Miami, the Giant Cartel "Welcome to Vice City" Hanged at the Kaseya Center

The sighting of Grand Theft Auto VI in Miami officially began with its first iconic stage: the Kaseya Center. The giant “Welcome to Vice City” sign, which promotes the game, was hung on the roof of the Miami Heat arena after a team transported the structure by helicopter on September 22. The workers built the pink and white letters on the ground, then lift them with helicopters on the roof of the area in front of the arena in the afternoon. The complete installation covers about 4,700 square meters, includes the GTA 6 brand and is large enough to be readable from the air, even for travellers landing at the Miami International Airport. Rockstar Games paid the Miami-Dade county, the owner of the arena, about $97,000 for temporary placement, as reported by the Miami Herald. Thanks to the fact that it remained under $1 million, the mayor gave the ok without a vote of the commission, explaining the rapidity of the process regarding the other Rockstar advertising proposals. The county intends to use funds to develop a park on land owned by the municipality behind the arena. The position of the Kaseya Center is the first of four marketing efforts of Vice City in Miami that has actually been installed. This project, the agreement with the county arena, is advanced faster because it was small and direct. The others are late and probably subject to different changes. Miami Beach voted to start negotiations on the advertising of beach beds, the City of Miami opened the door to advertising with private flags in the city center, and the county’s largest offer for airport takeover and public transport is still under discussion. While fans of Grand Theft Auto are happy that something has finally moved, some Miami-Dade County Commissioners continue to oppose the county's bond with a game known for its violence, including elements against the police in previous iterations, while the mayor's office leveraged economic and cultural advantages. As we have already mentioned, the agreement on the arena has avoided much of this controversy thanks to its small dimensions that have avoided a vote of the committee. The sign is temporary and will remain in position at least for the Miami Heat 2026-27 season, but is the largest and most visible among all projects. Considering the enthusiasm that is expected to generate forward, we can expect to see other GTA 6 cards scattered throughout Miami before the game arrived on November 19.
