A new leak of information about the GTA VI project, which operates first of all of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, brought Rockstar Games' security and the growing conflict between developers, hackers and video gamers. To claim the attack was the Cyberleek group, which presented the operation as a form of protest against some decisions attributed to Rockstar, in particular regarding the policies related to the editions of the game and the choice to focus on digital distribution. The story is particularly important because GTA VI is one of the most anticipated video games in recent years. Rockstar has maintained an extremely private communication strategy, showing only a limited part of the project and carefully checking all information published before launch. The new material escape also arrives a few days from an official presentation scheduled for August 27, during which a deepening of the game should be shown. Despite this, the impact on GTA VI’s commercial success could be limited. In fact, widespread films show a non-definite version of the game and do not seem to contain elements capable of seriously compromising the image of the project. On the contrary, many online comments focused on technical aspects, settings, game system and dimensions of the virtual world. The situation is partly reminiscent of Rockstar's great violation in 2022, when material belonging to a development version of GTA VI was released online. Even then, despite the enormous clamor, the project continued its path. The Cyberleek case therefore seems to be more a blow to Rockstar's confidentiality than a concrete threat to the game. The group has achieved great visibility, but its motivations have also received criticism from the videoludic community. Now the focus is on the official presentation: Rockstar will be in the next few days trying to completely regain control of the narrative on GTA VI. Among the leaked information, we also talked about a possible complete map of Leonida, while another noise indicates that the next trailer of GTA VI will arrive on Netflix. La storia di Duval e Caminos mi convince poco, come spesso accade con questi "early access" interni. Cyberleek è solo un amplificatore di disordini, un modo per attirare l’attenzione su un problema che Rockstar, nel bene o nel male, gestisce già a suo modo. Il fatto che si definiscano una “protesta” contro le politiche aziendali è abbastanza tipico di questi gruppi, più interessati alla notorietà che a un vero e proprio cambiamento. La violazione del 2022 sembra essere stata un campanello d'allarme, ma la reazione di Rockstar è sempre stata quella di chi ha una strategia a lungo termine: non farsi contagiare da faccende individuali che possono danneggiare il prodotto finale. Il "colpo alla riservatezza" descritto nell'articolo mi sembra sottostimato; l’effetto più reale sarà sulla campagna di marketing, che dovrà ora gestire la pressione e cercare di controllare il flusso di informazioni, soprattutto in vista della presentazione su Netflix. Quello che noto e' una tattica abbastanza collaudata: sfruttare la curiosità del pubblico per creare suspense e mantenere alto l'interesse attorno al gioco. Il nome Leonida mi fa pensare a un riferimento esplicito alla mappa di Grassrivers, visto quanto è stata enfatizzata questa ambientazione nel trailer precedente. Mi preoccupa meno il fatto che Cyberleek abbia ottenuto visibilità: la comunità è già satura di questo tipo di "leak", e l'attenzione sarà presto spostata sulla presentazione del 27 agosto. Il problema reale non è tanto l’attacco in sé, quanto le conseguenze sul lancio del gioco, e se Rockstar riuscirà a mantenere il controllo della narrazione o meno.
