Grand Theft Auto VI – Vice City (2002): Unprecedented Evolution After 24 Years

When Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was launched in 2002, it instantly became one of the most iconic open-world games ever created. Its streets surrounded by neon, the unforgettable soundtrack, the tree-lined avenues and beaches, along with the atmosphere inspired by the 1980s, have made it a masterpiece of gaming that millions of players still remember today. For many fans, Vice City was not just a map – it was a second home where countless childhood memories were created. Now, after an incredible 24-year trip, Rockstar Games brings us back to Vice City in Grand Theft Auto VI and transformation is beyond anything many of us have ever imagined. Looking at these side-by-side comparisons makes the evolution of gaming look like our eyes. Family locations are still recognizable, but each detail has been reconstructed with new generation technology that pushes realism to a completely new level. The roads that once presented simple textures are now populated by dense traffic, pedestrians, dynamic weather conditions, shadows and realistic lighting that change naturally during the day. The water has passed from the flat blue textures to incredibly detailed waves that reflect buildings, clouds, sunsets and city lights with an amazing precision. Every beach, marina, bridge and coast now looks like a real place instead of a gaming environment. One of the most significant updates is visible in the architecture of the city. The buildings that were once made of simple geometry and painted textures have been transformed into incredibly detailed reference points with realistic materials, glass reflections, bright signs that shine, balconies, interiors and lighting that completely change the atmosphere after sunset. At night, Vice City appears more alive than ever, capturing the same colored spirit that made the original legendary while showing how advanced technology is. The Ocean View Hotel, perfectly representative of this evolution, was recreated by Rockstar with a breathtaking level of detail, vibrant lighting, realistic reflections, improved architecture and an atmosphere that immediately reminds the mind, demonstrating how advanced technology is. Vehicle design has also reached another level. The classic cars that defined the era of Vice City have evolved into elegant machines made with realistic body panels, high quality interiors, detailed headlights, advanced reflections, accurate materials and living physics. Despite all these improvements, Rockstar managed to preserve the style and personality immediately recognizable for long-time fans. The boats and coastal areas tell an equally impressive story. What used to be speedboots with low floating polygonality on static water turned into detailed boats that cut through dynamic waves with 19 Non mi stupirebbe se Rockstar avesse fatto dell’Hotel Ocean View un vero e proprio punto focale per l'esplorazione.
