Rockstar Blocks RP Server Monetization for GTA VI – Here are the New Rules

Rockstar Games has published new guidelines for the modding of its games, setting clear limits for the community when it begins to develop changes for GTA 6. The main rules aim to prevent unauthorized marketing of mods, especially RP servers based on economic systems using real money. Rockstar's position on modding has traditionally been complex, although in recent years it has taken on a more open attitude, especially thanks to the success of the GTA 5 RP scene. The publisher acquired the team responsible for FiveM and collaborated with the RP NoPixel server, permanently clearing the phenomenon. The new directives impose a number of restrictions. Mods may not use intellectual property of third parties, contain pornographic content, promote forms of bullying or references to violent extremism. Also, it is forbidden to use Rockstar games on unofficial platforms or transfer characters and maps between different titles. The crucial point is monetization: Rockstar categorically prohibits unauthorized marketing of mods and specifies that players cannot carry out real money transactions through cryptocurrencies or traditional currencies within the modified content. Gambling with real money is also prohibited and the promotion of content sponsored by third parties in personalised servers. This policy directly affects projects announced by creators and influencers, such as Adin Ros, who had designed a server dedicated to GTA 6 where players could earn real money. The new rules prevent it. However, Rockstar did not close the door to modding or custom servers; rather, it defines which forms of commercial use are not allowed without the consent of the publisher, leaving room for modding activities that respect these conditions. At the moment, the information on GTA 6 remains mostly theoretical: the game is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while a PC version has not yet been officially announced (a classic Pulcinella secret).
