Preview Netflix GTA VI: An Unexpected Success – The Numbers of Presbytes Surprise Newzoo

We analyzed the 26-minute streaming preview of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, presented by Rockstar Games on Netflix. The result is an unprecedented television event, which demonstrates the scope of the GTA phenomenon and the global enthusiasm for the new chapter. The première of Rockstar Games suffered disservices reported by many users in the initial minutes, but the wait for the title, the most anticipated of the recent history of the industry, was palpable. The video will also be available on YouTube and Rockstar website. This collaboration between Netflix and Rockstar highlights the scale of the GTA phenomenon: a trailer for a game becomes a full-fledged television event. Netflix describes the expectation as "without precedent". Grand Theft Auto VI does not seem to revolutionize the GTA formula, but aims to elevate it in terms of visual density, detail and credibility. The most remarkable impact is the richness of details: realistic interiors, crowded streets, extremely well-kept environments, animations and characters that make Grand Theft Auto V suddenly dated. The video was released on PlayStation 5, stressing the importance of computing power for the game, with a significant leap in the simulation of the world. Despite the 26 minutes of preview, we still know too little about the narrative choices of Rockstar Games and the real novelties of a game on which they have worked so much and that it really promises to become a videoludic cult. Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, exceeded 230 million copies sold. Thirteen years later, the successor is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This time it is not only the economic result of Rockstar and Take-Two: Grand Theft Auto VI has become a macroeconomic variable in the console market. According to Newzoo, in the first week of digital predictions the game has generated approximately 180 million dollars between the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain – a better start of preorder campaign recorded by the company. Based on the sales curves observed, Newzoo estimates that Grand Theft Auto VI can reach between $3.3 and $5.2 billion global cumulative sales by the end of the launch week. An ambitious result that demonstrates the enormous potential of the title. This performance could be a significant boost for Sony, especially in the mature phase of PlayStation 5 and in the context of the company's abandonment of physical media, raising concerns among the most affectionate fans, ready to boycott the most anticipated game release ever.
