It is all true: we are finally faced with the first official information about Grand Theft Auto VI, and it is good news for all fans of the series. Some key figures from Rockstar Games, especially Tarek Hamad and Scott Butchard, discussed with GQ about the launch of The Cayo Perico Heist, the latest GTA Online expansion available for a few days. This is, as we have also reported here, the largest expansion in the history of GTA 5, which introduces vehicles, weapons, missions, content, robberies and even an unpublished area to explore, all this more than 7 years after the launch of one of the most successful games in history. In the course of the interview, a question in particular falls on what will be the future of the Grand Theft Auto series, in particular with regard to the sixth highly anticipated chapter that has long been noisy – but which will be expected much more. While not explicitly naming GTA 6 – Rockstar Games obviously does not want to pronounce that name before being sure of its product, perhaps even following the wake of demands from fans after the Cyberpunk 2077 case – Hamad and Butchard wanted to reassure all players on a particular element, with which the whole story of the series was born: the single player compartment, once again, will continue to have a central role in the future of Grand Theft. GTA 6, therefore, will certainly have a traditional single player mode, which we actually find in all the chapters of the series. An announcement of this kind might seem obvious, perhaps, but let's not forget that if GTA V is still one of the most played titles today is thanks to the extraordinary success of its multiplayer compartment. The intentions of Rockstar Games have not changed even in the light of the overwhelming explosion of GTA Online, and therefore the next chapter of the series will not do without its narrative component for single player. Butchard also specified that the single player, paradoxically, will be increasingly important also in GTA Online, which developers are already integrating for a long time: "I think you can see that we point on the single player element already with GTA Online, and I think that going on we will introduce more than that element there." To quote a famous meme, what we reported to you “is not much but an honest job”. In short, we do not yet know the details about the geographical and historical setting of GTA 6 (although more clues seem to suggest a return to Vice City...), and we do not know exactly when the game arrives. What we have had in these hours, however, are the first official statements regarding the next game of the series. Meanwhile, we remind you that GTA Online will also be back in standalone version on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in the course of 2021, which means that content for the game will continue for a long time.
