GTA VI Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition? What to choose?

By GTA6 Hub editorial team

GTA VI is at the door, so it's time to prepare the last checks. Gameplay preview? Check. Relive the nostalgia of Vice City? Check. Choose the console to play on? Check. All that remains is preorder, right? Actually, there is another decision to make because GTA VI will be available in two versions: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. But what should you buy? We'll try to help you decide. GTA VI Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition: Price Both editions of GTA VI will be available on 19 November on the same platforms (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S). The most obvious difference is the price. The Standard Edition costs 80 dollars, already higher than the typical price also for a modern blockbuster video game. The Ultimate Edition costs $100, not uncommon for a deluxe version of the game, but still a potential bitter pill to ingurgitate. If you have already purchased the Standard Edition, you can also pay to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition. GTA VI Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition: Content Both editions promise a version of GTA 6 that should feel complete. But what do you get with the Ultimate Edition to justify the additional cost? In other words, what is missing at the Standard Edition? The Ultimate Edition includes an assortment of weapons, cosmetics and extra cars. If you want to sneak into shooting with Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers driving a '95 Grotti Cheetah, this is the only way. This version also unlocks new stores to access exclusive content like tattoo salons and gyms to further customize your character or shops to change your weapons. "The Ultimate Edition bonuses are intertwined in all aspects of Jason and Lucia's history, with new objects discovered behind each chapter," says Rockstar. Pre-order bonuses on both versions are also available. If you pre-order GTA VI before November 20, you will unlock additional weapons, outfits and retro vehicles inspired by the 1980s version of Vice City. In addition, you will receive a month of GTA+, the Rockstar subscription for Grand Theft Auto Online, worth $8. GTA VI Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition: Value It is difficult to look at these two versions and not think that the one with more things is the most complete experience. "It is the conclusion of that really annoying trend in which studies develop a game and then cut it to sell it to you later as DLC," said my colleague Gabe Zamora, expressing frustration for the division. "In this case, they are launching them with two versions of the game: one has all the customizations and features available at launch, while the cheapest version reduces this to package the product at a discounted price. This gives Rockstar a way to charge $100 for a game without looking bad."
