GTA VI: Rockstar Remains Silent on the 30 FPS on PlayStation 5 – Signs of a Possible Optimization?
Rockstar has confirmed that the current version of GTA VI turns to 30 FPS on PlayStation 5, raising questions about hopes for a 60 FPS frame rate. Rob Nelson, responsible for Rockstar North's development and co-director, said he had to assess the situation with the team, without giving definitive indications about the possibility of a 60 FPS mode, even in the future. The confirmation comes after the reveal trailer on Netflix and the first impressions of the technical quality of the game, which already suggested an optimal exploitation of next-gen hardware. The fact that Rockstar has not responded openly fuels doubts, especially considering that the frame rate at 30 FPS is a parameter far from accepted by players accustomed to 60 FPS standards. The issue is amplified by the high cost of the PS5 PRO, which despite its specific characteristics does not automatically guarantee the best possible experience for GTA VI. The performance of the game on PlayStation 5 shows a stable frame rate around 30 FPS, with occasional drops, maintaining an internal resolution of about 1440p. Despite this, the debate focuses on the possibility that Rockstar is intentionally limiting the frame rate for future remastered on next-gen consoles. It is assumed that the main problem lies in the CPU workload, overloaded by the simulation of a large number of animated characters, vehicles and NPCs. A solution could be to lower the resolution of the game and reduce the graphic details, as happens in many other titles, but at the moment you do not have concrete information on this possible strategy. The implications of the PC version are still not announced, and the potential improvements offered by the next-gen.
