Rockstar, field research and unexpected collaborations for GTA VI Florida

The authors of GTA VI embarked on an accurate study of true Florida, traveling with police officers and gang members to gather information and details that will turn the island into the map of the new game. A meticulous and ambitious approach by Rockstar Games, which does not give up this immersion in the real. “Every project begins with research trips,” explained development manager Aaron Garbut at LOVE Magazine. “It’s the time we can explore both the place and our ideas as a team.” The team began its nicknames from Miami, crossing the Florida Keys to Key West. “This is the best part of the project,” said Garbut, “a car full of friends traveling for days, talk about what they want to accomplish and immerse themselves in places and their ideas.” The team has collected stories and information, also collaborating with law enforcement and gang members. Despite some details, the goal is to build a credible and diverse world, as Garbut points out: “We want to experience these extremes in order to bring them to our world.” A special episode was the observation of a live concert by Beyoncé, quoted by Garbut as one of the many curious moments of the expeditions. The direct experience of the places, however, turns out to have been more important than the simple tourist attractions. The new installation of Grand Theft Auto 6 will contain a level of maniacal detail, which extends to the dialogues of passersby and radio stations. The team aims to create a credible world, with a rich variety of situations and elements, which will establish new standards for the video industry. Florida, with its hurricanes, a hundred and seventy animal species and six regions, is therefore preparing an extraordinary environment, fruit of the deepened work of the development team, waiting for the launch on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
