Leonida Riva: the Return to Home and Redemption in the Final of “La Belva”

The final of "La Belva" concludes the main plot, culminating with the rescue of Teresa by Leonida Riva, but above all highlighting a path of redemption for the protagonist. After using violence and military skills to face the criminal threat led by Mozart, Leonida manages to bring Teresa back into her arms, marking a turning point in the father-daughter relationship. The final scene, with Mattia inviting Leonida to the Sunday match, takes on a deep meaning: it is an unequivocal demand for reconciliation and reopening of a bond broken by trauma and removal. Ludovico Di Martino's film explores the path of Leonida, now tormented by the past, which compares with its own identity and the consequences of its choices, demonstrating that the true "Belva" is not defined by violence, but by the ability to accept its own pain and rebuild a future. Mozart's surrender, discarded over a railing during the final confrontation, symbolizes the definitive defeat of the evil that threatened Teresa, while Mattia's recognition represents the first step towards emotional healing and acceptance of the complexity of her father.
