Hamilton: "I'd have to cancel every commitment" - Ferrari Pilot's Promise for GTA VI

Lewis Hamilton also seems to wait for GTA VI with the same impatience as millions of players. In the last few hours, a Ferrari driver's statement, made during a meeting with fans in July 2025, in which he claims he is willing to cancel all his work effort to devote himself to the new chapter of the Rockstar Games series. The phrase is authentic, but it is an old statement. Hamilton spoke those words jokingly about the huge wait around GTA VI. “It’s the game that looks more than everyone,” he said at the time. During the meeting, the seven-time champion of the world did not hide his enthusiasm for GTA VI, stating that he did not wait to put his hands on the game and, with a joke, adding that at the time of the release he had to cancel all his work commitments in order to be able to dedicate himself to adventure. It was not therefore an announcement of a real break from Formula 1 or already scheduled holiday days, but of a joke that shows how the British driver is also involved in waiting for the new title of Rockstar Games. The statement returns viral after more than a year, despite the images showing Hamilton in front of a console are graphic reconstructions. The release set for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and XBOX Series X|S, still leaves the Ferrari driver a few months to organize their commitments. It remains to be understood whether, when the time comes, it will really be able to find a few days off or whether it will have to divide its time between the Formula 1 slopes and the virtual roads of Vice City. Mi convince poco l’idea di un “open world mostruoso” basata solo sulle parole di un ex produttore; Rockstar ha sempre avuto un approccio più incentrato sulla profondità delle meccaniche e della storia che sulla mera dimensione del territorio. Tuttavia, se effettivamente riusciranno a integrare l'esperienza di Vice City (e probabilmente anche Grassrivers e Mount Kalaga, visto il contesto) con la mappa di una nuova area come Ocean Beach in un modo così coinvolgente – come sembra suggerire il teaser di Rockstar, che mescola gameplay trapelato con quella musica – allora, forse, potrei cambiare idea. Quello che noto e' che i teaser di questo tipo tendono a creare aspettative enormi, spesso deluse quando il gioco effettivamente arriva. Il fatto che la musica trapelata sia stata ufficialmente riproposta nel teaser indica un tentativo consapevole da parte di Rockstar di alimentare l’hype, ed è un'operazione calcolata. Resta da vedere se riusciranno a gestire le aspettative dei giocatori, soprattutto considerando il successo di Grand Theft Auto V e l’enorme fanbase che la saga ha accumulato negli anni. Non mi stupirebbe se il gioco iniziasse con una campagna pubblicitaria intensa per compensare eventuali mancanze nel gameplay reale.
