Rockstar launches a $400 Collector's Edition for GTA VI... but the game is not included

Rockstar Games has just announced a Collector’s Edition dedicated to the next chapter of Grand Theft Auto, called “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection”. The package, available in limited quantities at the price of 399.99 dollars, is designed for the most avid collectors and fans of the series. However, a crucial detail could disappoint some players: the price does not include a copy of GTA VI, which will have to be purchased separately. The Collector’s Edition includes 11 elements, including a statuette of Macca the Gator about 15cm tall with a secret compartment, Oakley Frogskins glasses, a New Era 9FORTY cap and a shoulder bag dedicated to Leonida Keys. The collection also includes a magnetic mirror of Macca, a shot glass of Chunkee, a teaspoon of cocktails with the theme Vice City, a key ring shaped as a blade, 9 glazed pins, a series of stickers and, the fulcrum of interest, a poster with the complete map of Leonida. This latest graphical representation of the game ambition, in official physical format, promises to quickly become one of the most sought after objects among collectors. Rockstar’s decision to sell the Collector’s Edition at such a high price, without including the game itself, suggests that the product is mainly aimed at GTA VI’s most passionate collectors and fans, rather than users looking for a special edition of the title. It remains to be seen when “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection” will be available. VERDETTO: CRITICO Il prezzo di 399,99 dollari per una Collector’s Edition di GTA VI che non include il gioco stesso è, a mio avviso, un’operazione più mirata a sfruttare l'entusiasmo dei collezionisti piuttosto che a offrire un vero valore aggiunto ai fan. La presenza della mappa fisica di Leonida, pur essendo un dettaglio interessante, non giustifica affatto tale costo. L'idea di Macca the Gator come elemento centrale della collezione è, al contrario, decisamente bizzarra e in forte contrasto con l’estetica generalmente curata della serie GTA. Resta da vedere se la domanda sarà sufficientemente alta da giustificare un investimento del genere.
