Rockstar Focuses on the GTA VI Single Player: Data about GTA Online Reviewed by Schreier
According to journalist Jason Schreier, Rockstar Games and Take-Two do not consider GTA 6 Online a priority, despite the huge revenue generated by the multiplayer experience in Grand Theft Auto V. “It is interesting to note that at this time Take-Two is talking about GTA 6 exclusively with regard to the single player component, which presumably will not guarantee recurring revenues,” said Schreier. "I do not think they will insert microtransactions in the campaign and are not talking at all about GTA Online. They did not say anything and did not intend to do so in the near future, nor to explain how the new GTA Online will be or how the recurring expense will work. " In this regard, as you will know, the next trailer of GTA 6 will be released on Netflix on August 27, with a live broadcast that will leave at 21.00 Italian and promises to be quite substantial. We have long known that the new GTA Online has been excluded from the launch of GTA 6, which will only be single player, but Schreier has pointed out how the multiplayer component of the fifth chapter has produced really important revenue for Take-Two. In fact, it is estimated that most of the company's revenues derive from microtransactions rather than from the sale of video games, with the $6.7 billion cashed in the last fiscal year that includes 5.2 related to the recurring expenses of users. “According to some leaked data, the current version of GTA Online, the one associated with Grand Theft Auto V, generates about half a billion dollars a year – half a billion dollars a year, thirteen years after its launch: a simply impressive figure.”
