Netflix and Rockstar Games: an unpublished deal for the GTA VI Extended Look

Netflix explained the reasons that led to the agreement with Rockstar Games for the realization of the Extended Look of Grand Theft Auto VI, defining the operation an unprecedented partnership. The event, which will give early access to the new insight into the anticipated game, will debut on the platform on August 27 at 21:00 Italian. The content will be available six hours later, at 03:00 on August 28, also on YouTube and on the official website of GTA VI. Those who do not have a Netflix subscription will be able to enjoy the Authentic Look only after a wait of more than six hours. According to Netflix, Grand Theft Auto's presentations are now important cultural events, especially considering the extent of waiting for the new chapter, unprecedented in franchise history. The company intends to use this initiative as an example of its strategic direction: to offer a global audience to the most ambitious narratives, regardless of the medium used. The deal between Netflix and Rockstar Games dates back to 2013, when both brands were experiencing an exponential growth period with the launch of GTA V and the beginning of the production of original content for the streaming platform. The collaboration therefore represents a new phase in the evolution of the relationship between video games and streaming, capable of building shared events globally. However, details of the Extended Look remain to be clarified: Rockstar Games has not yet provided accurate information about the type of content included, such as a long sequence of gameplay, a new trailer or narrative insight. The appointment will focus particularly on the history of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos a Leonida, but the official information is limited to the date, time and distribution of the different versions of the Extended Look. GTA VI is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Netflix’s decision to release the Extended Look so close to the game’s release suggests that the promotional campaign is entering the final stage, although the actual content of the event remains a mystery until August 27.
