GTA 6 age classifications leaked to PS5: an analysis of regional expectations

Grand Theft Auto VI's age ratings have recently been revealed on the PlayStation Store, attracting considerable interest in its planned release on 19 November 2026. The discovery was made by GTAVice.net, who noted the presence of information in ads on Sony's social media. Although an X 18+ rating was reported in Australia (later referred to as an error), labels by age reflect expectations already emerged during preorders. The final PEGI 18 is expected for most of Europe and the United Kingdom, while in Mexico the game obtained the classification D (for adults), and in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates was assigned the classification from 21 years on. These classifications are in line with the expectations previously formulated for GTA V, suggesting that the new title will present levels of violence, drug use and similar nudity. Despite the lack of an evaluation by ESRB (which deals with North America), Xbox indicated on its platform a provisional classification Likely Mature 17+. This scenario raises questions about the possible censorship of the game, a theme already present in the history of GTA, as demonstrated by the delay of GTA 3 and GTA 4, due to changes made to avoid regional restrictions. It remains to be seen if Rockstar will have to make further changes before the GTA VI exit. The recent appearance of product codes located in the backend of the Rockstar Store, specific for the physical version of PS5, suggests an additional level of preparation and finishing of the game.
