Stop Killing Games denounces CyberLeek: “They promote a cryptocurrency, not physical support”
Stop Killing Games, the association born in 2024 to defend the physical video game market, released an official release taking the distance from CyberLeek, the group that spread leaks of GTA 6. The movement strongly expressed itself, stressing that CyberLeek's actions are not a form of protest against the abandonment of physical support by Take-Two and other publishers, but an illegal operation aimed at promoting cryptocurrency. Recently, CyberLeek has released gameplay videos and an image showing the full game map, the result of an internal build. All materials have watermarks that refer to a meme coin and a website associated with the group, where a manifesto is available with three requests addressed to Rockstar Games and other publishers, formulated as a response to the "digital age" and the decision not to distribute GTA 6 on physical support. CyberLeek also threatened additional leaks against other publishers, claiming that if he managed to reach Rockstar Games, “no one would be safe.” Stop Killing Games declares foreign to CyberLeek's actions, stating: "CyberLeek is using the leak to promote a 'mememe coin', attaching crypto links and QR codes to movies and asking people to pay to get more material. Do not send money to these people, regardless of how much sympathy you can try for their actions. These are illegal activities and, sincerely, we feel empathy for all Rockstar employees who face this situation again. " The communiqué highlights how the use of illicit means to support an idea is unacceptable, damaging the reputation of videoludic communities and the possibilities of getting changes. Stop Killing Games also points out that destructive actions do not help anyone and risk damaging Rockstar employees involved in the game. The main concern of the association is to avoid being mistakenly associated with CyberLeek, to ensure its credibility in dialogue with the authorities and preserve the support of the most conservative sectors.
