Ricchio Confessa: Old Concepts of GTA Could Resurrect in GTA VI

John Ricchio, former producer of Rockstar Games involved in the development of Grand Theft Auto V, was interviewed during an interview with Kiwi Talkz about the possibility that content cut by GTA V can reappear in Grand Theft Auto VI. His response was substantially affirmative, citing examples such as the use of material intended for a project cancelled for Grand Theft Auto IV, with the precise condition that technological progress among the games was sufficiently similar. Ricchio explained that, although many concepts survive over time, specific implementations – scripts, animations, 3D models and game systems – are highly dependent on the architecture of the game engine. Therefore, the possibility that GTA V elements find space in GTA VI is low, since each game requires a specific implementation for new hardware and technology. In spite of this, Rockstar has a vast reserve of ideas deriving from decades of cut content, which could exploit for the development of Grand Theft Auto VI and future chapters of the saga. The statement does not necessarily imply direct reuse of files from GTA V, but rather the possibility that an idea is recovered and rebuilt from scratch, taking into account the new technologies and functionality of the game. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think that’s right. I think a lot of it depends on how much the tech changes between games or between titles within the same franchise.
