GTA VI: The Censorship Presentation in China – Rockstar intervenes in Ritroso

The presentation of GTA 6 was heavily censored in China, as reported by several testimonies. Rockstar Games would have obscured dance scenes, drug references, sexual background elements and some explicit images with showy purple blur. One of the most affected sequences was that set in a nightclub: most of the picture was covered by this blur. Also the hand of Jason Duval while smoking was censored, as well as different frames set on the beach, and even violence and blood were modified. Although most of the corpses shown during the presentation remained visible, the first floors of the bloody bodies were completely blurred. These modifications, which triggered a surge of console sales in the UK, were not present in the first video transmission and were added later by Rockstar Games around 31 August. The exact reason for this action is not clear: the protection of children or the application of directives received. The company has requested the removal through DMCA of any recharged and uncut videos on the Bilibili platform, making visible only the censored version of the presentation.
