Xbox Gets GTA VI’s Cloud Streaming Rights – Possible PC Access via Xbox Cloud Gaming

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI is now at the door. After years of speculation and renewal, the new chapter of the Rockstar Games saga will debut on November 19, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The game will initially remain exclusive to the consoles, without a PC version. However, an unexpected operation could offer those who do not own a new console a way to play: Xbox would get exclusive rights for GTA VI's cloud streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to Tom Warren of The Verge, Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, told employees that Microsoft acquired this right. If confirmed, Xbox will become the only platform authorized to deploy GTA 6 through cloud gaming, extending the game to PC, smartphones, tablets and portable devices compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming. This represents an opportunity for PC players, considering that Rockstar has not yet announced a native version of the computer title. The agreement includes some restrictions: the monthly use thresholds would be 15 hours for Game Pass Ultimate, 10 hours for Game Pass Premium and 5 hours for Game Pass Essential. Users could buy additional hours, but this would entail additional costs. Cloud gaming requires a stable and fast Internet connection, and the quality of experience may vary according to latency and connection speed. One crucial aspect to consider is access to the game for PC users: at the moment it seems necessary to buy an Xbox copy of GTA 6 to be able to use it through cloud gaming. Be uncertain if, in the future, Rockstar will publish a native version for PC and if this would be accessible to those who have already purchased the game on Xbox. The situation is closely monitored for further developments.
