Ritardo PC GTA 6: Ex Design Rockstar Manufacturer

The absence of a PC version at the time of the launch of GTA 6 raised questions among players. The decision, however, would not be dictated by aversion to the platform, but by a precise assessment of Rockstar Games’ priorities and management of resources. To clarify the reasoning was John Ricchio, a former producer of the study, intervened during an interview with the podcast Kiwi Talkz. Ricchio, who worked on significant projects such as Red Dead Redemption and GTA 5, explained that the choice is based on the need to focus resources and staff on a limited number of projects to ensure the success of the title. Failure to debut PC is not a rejection Ricchio points out that this decision does not imply a position contrary to the PC world. Rockstar is simply choosing where to initially concentrate its energies, with consoles as an absolute priority. Distributing resources between multiple platforms simultaneously would require excessive time and money, compromising the quality of the game and limiting investments in other aspects of production. The internal demand does not concern the value of the PC as a platform, but the convenience of dealing with it during a critical phase of development, while the console editions represent the absolute priority. The explanation removes the idea of a specific aversion to a platform, revealing a normal production evaluation: working on a project inevitably involves renouncing the same resources to others. Rockstar prefers to start from console limits The philosophy of the study plans to concentrate initially on consoles, whose hardware has well defined limits since the early stages of development. The developers can thus build the game taking into account these constraints, and then think about its expansion on PC. Ricchio remembers that in the past it was more common to develop first on computers and adapt the game to other platforms only at a later time, a method that could generate difficulties towards the end of the project. To realize a product initially taking into account the limits of the machine on which it will work makes it more complex to resize it later. For the former producer it is preferable to start from a binding environment and expand the work, rather than create a free version and have to reduce it in an advanced phase. The priority given to consoles is also born from a precise technical setting, considering that GTA 6 is developed by keeping in mind the limits of console hardware from the beginning.
