Preview GTA VI on Netflix: Lucia and Jason in Rapina a Vice City
Finally, in a few weeks, we'll know more about Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar Games announced the arrival of a long preview that will not be immediately available on YouTube, but will be exclusive to Netflix. Most likely, the streaming giant made a deal with the Take-Two publisher. The long preview will debut at 21:00 on August 27 and will also be available streaming on YouTube from 3:00 on August 28, though with a slight delay compared to the Netflix version. The timing was respected, while the wait for the exit fixed at 19 November shortened, leaving only three and a half months. The preview will show the two protagonists of the game, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, armed and with the face covered, perhaps ready for a robbery. The game will be set at Vice City (inspired in Miami), in the state of Leonida, on an extremely vast map. Some key aspects remain to be clarified, including support for 60 fps, which can be confirmed by the end of the month preview. We will never see the title in physical version: even the guarded version will contain only a code for downloading the digital version. La scelta di focalizzarsi su Lucia Caminos e Jason Duval come protagonisti mi convince poco. Il franchise GTA ha sempre avuto un fascino per figure più “sporche”, personaggi legati a specifiche gang o criminalità organizzate, non necessariamente eroi incompresi con un passato da musicisti. L'associazione con la musica hip-hop, rappresentata da "Only Raw Records" e il riferimento a Dre’Quan Priest, è un dettaglio interessante che potrebbe essere sfruttato bene per costruire una narrazione più profonda. Tuttavia, se l'anteprima si concentra esclusivamente su questa coppia, rischia di banalizzare un po’ la portata del gioco, già allo stato attuale un fenomeno culturale di proporzioni enormi. Resta da vedere come sarà gestita la mappa estesa ispirata a Leonida e Miami, e se il supporto ai 60 fps verrà effettivamente confermato: l'ottimizzazione delle prestazioni è sempre stata una variabile critica nelle nuove uscite GTA, soprattutto su piattaforme meno potenti. La decisione di non rilasciare una versione fisica del gioco, nemmeno in edizione speciale custodita, è prevedibile, ma lascia un certo rammarico per i collezionisti più accaniti. L'esclusività su Netflix sembra essere una mossa strategica per massimizzare la visibilità e l’engagement del titolo, puntando ad un pubblico ampio e diversificato che non necessariamente si identifica con il target tradizionale dei giochi GTA.
