Will GTA 6 Have Crossplay?

Are you planning to get GTA 6 when it comes out this year? If you do, then you probably want to know if you can play this game with your friends who have different consoles. Latest information that we know is that GTA will only be released on two origins. They're going to be on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S only. Based on that, the question on everyone's mind is simple: Will GTA 6 have crossplay? Let me break down everything we know so far to answer the question. What Platforms Will GTA 6 Be On? Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 will launch on these two platforms only: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. You might notice that PC isn't on that list yet. But don't worry if you're a PC player because this has happened before. When GTA 5 first came out, it launched on consoles first and then came to PC about one and a half years later. GTA 6 will probably follow the same pattern. So PC players will likely have to wait until 2027 or 2028 to explore Vice City with Lucia and Jason, after the initial release on November 19th, 2026. What Rockstar Has Said About GTA 6 Crossplay They've been pretty quiet and secretive about most features of the game, and crossplay is one of those things they just haven't talked about yet. This silence is not really a good sign if you were hoping to play with friends on different systems. However, Rockstar has a history here that's worth looking at. They have never added crossplay to any of their games before. Games like GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 Online are multiplayer, but they keep the players separated by their platforms. So we really don't know if this feature will be available for the new game or not, mostly it won't be. Why GTA 6 Crossplay Probably Won't Happen There are a few reasons why this seems unlikely. First, Rockstar doesn't really follow gaming trends just because everyone else is doing them. Even after all the delays over they years, they will make decisions based on what they think works best for their own games. Second, the PC release timing makes things a bit complicated. Even if Rockstar wanted to add crossplay, they'd have to figure out how to make it work when PC players join the party months or even years after console players have already been playing. Could Rockstar change their mind side? Well, there is always a small chance that Rockstar could surprise everyone and add crossplay to GTA 6 down the line. Player demand is definitely there, and modern gaming has made crossplay pretty standard for multiplayer games. Fortnite provides that crossplay can work really well, and now players expect the same in major releases. What This Means for You? So, will GTA 6 have crossplay? Almost certainly not. That is why, if you are planning to buy the game specifically to play with your friends on other platforms, you might want to rethink that plan. Before you figure out how much will GTA 6 cost and decide to buy it, try to talk with your friends before the game comes out and decide together which platfrom you will all play on. Pick based on where most of your group will be, not on the hope that crossplay will magically appear. If Rockstar does announce crossplay later, that'll be a nice surprise, but don't count on it happening.
