Rockstar had made an irrelevant offer to Daft Punk to bring the duo back together, despite their official and theatrical "sepolation" in February 2021. According to the hasitleaked insider, the Daft Punk management was proposed a special “return on stage” for the soundtrack of GTA VI, with a “virtually unlimited budget”. After the duo had chosen to abandon the music and shown the iconic image of the explosive robot in the video "Epilogue", Rockstar also evaluated Justice, a project born from Ed Banger Records, former management of Daft Punk. The choice of the French duo appears logical and paradoxical: Tom Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, after rejecting the role of the robot in a less "robotized" world, gave the free start to this return, taking advantage of their experience with the album Hyperdrama 2024 that brought the band the Grammy as best dance and electronic album. Rockstar's choice echoes a consolidated tradition: for GTA 5, the studio had hired Flying Lotus and Soulwax for radio, and for The Contract, Dr. Dre took care of the new tracks for GTA Online. Also for GTA VI, the musical selection is strategic: the first trailer featured “Love Is a Long Road” by Tom Petty, while the second included “Hot Together” by Pointer Sisters. With the launch scheduled for 19 November 2026 and the neon setting of Vice City, a piece signed by Daft Punk would be the perfect final touch. At the moment it is a mere indiscretion, given the lack of official statements by Rockstar or musicians. Insider hasitleaked has however rekindled interest in the game, promising new information in the next month and a third trailer on the day of the opening of reservations. Some mathematical analyses suggest that the GTA VI budget could exceed $3 billion.
