“Grand Theft Auto VI” predicts the biggest game of the decade – perhaps one of the greatest games ever created. This statement is not only rhetoric, since the title will be huge both in terms of data, and in terms of disk space. Rockstar Games announced that the long-awaited production will be available for digital pre-download from November 10 and that the full file will require up to 212 GB, “depending on the device”, encouraging players to “make sure they have enough space to start downloading the game as soon as possible.” To put this issue in perspective, the PlayStation 5 standard offers 1 TB or 825 GB (depending on whether you opt for the disc or digital edition), and about 158 GB of these are dedicated to the operating system. In other words, assuming that the standard version of the PS5 of the game is actually 212 GB and you use a digital console without external units, the only GTA VI will occupy more than 25% of the available space. On the Xbox front, a X Series offers 1 TB or 2 TB, while the Basic S Series is available with 1 TB or 512 GB units; of course, a significant part of this space is always reserved for the operating system. A wish for the owners of the 512 GB S Series. Considering the amount of content that the next “Grand Theft Auto” will be destined to offer, a massive download does not surprise at all. The map is described as double that of "GTA V", three times larger than "Red Dead Redemption 2" and will apparently include hundreds of accessible interiors. There are also hundreds of cars to consider, models of extremely detailed characters and, of course, the underlying logic and systems that make the whole playable game. However, it is possible that the specified size of 212 GB is only for the high fidelity PS5 Pro version, while this console comes with 2 TB "out of the box". The fact that Rockstar is quoting this number as a sort of standard leads to believe that the standard version that most people will download is actually as large or not significantly different. "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be launched (or, for pre-loaders, playable) on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. For the most passionate, the pre-download begins on November 10 – midnight local time on PS5, midnight GMT on the Xbox.
