GTA 6 and Netflix: a Movie or TV Series? The Hypothesis On the Threshold of the Preview

Rockstar Games’ decision to release the extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI exclusively on Netflix represents an unpublished approach in the gaming scene. Traditionally, the trailers are published on YouTube with the aim of maximizing the spread, but the importance of GTA 6 as the object of the desire for millions of fans drives Rockstar to explore new roads. What if this deal with the streaming giant hides a potential evolution of the franchise? Just like the latest Grand Theft Auto titles (saying 3D graphics) boast a film setting, especially for the single-player campaign, the narrative system could easily inspire a feature film or a TV series. Intermediate cutscenes between missions are an example, and the handshake between Rockstar and Netflix could anticipate this evolution. The idea is not to exclude, and indeed, we like to imagine it. Netflix has the resources necessary to address such a project, although the economic factor would not be the only obstacle, nor the most significant. Rockstar Games perfectionism, known for its long livelihoods that postponed the release of GTA 6 over a year and a half, suggests that any content will have to be up to the strict quality standards of the team. The preview of the work will air on Netflix on August 27 at 21:00, but will be available only for six hours before being made accessible on YouTube. The launch date remains fixed on 19 November, with a countdown indicating the presence of 103 days remaining.
