GTA VI: more than 170 animal species, from whales to lamantine – the realism of the ecosystem of Leonida outlines expectations

Conferned by Game Informer, Grand Theft Auto VI will present an incredibly rich ecosystem, with over 170 different animal species. The game, set in the state of Leonida, will see the inclusion of more than 60 types of birds and more than 30 terrestrial mammals, including rare specimens and “leighers” inspired by the fauna of Florida – lamantini, flamingos and pelicans will only be some of the protagonists. Biodiversity will extend from urban and rural environments to water courses, swamps and Everglades, replicating local flora and fauna with an impressive fidelity. The Rockstar team worked closely with experts to ensure unprecedented realism in the visual performance and behaviour of animal species. The fur management system and feathers, completely new, will react to interactions with characters and environmental factors: the fur of animals can get wet, get dirty or fade dynamically. The marine fauna will be equally cured, with sharks, whales and jellyfish reproduced with effects of bioluminescence, translucency and iridescence. According to Michael Kane, artistic manager at Rockstar, the goal was to overcome the level reached in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players can hunt these legendary creatures or, for those who prefer a more peaceful approach, visit the zoos and embark on diving to enter peaceful contact with marine fauna. Grand Theft Auto VI debuted on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
