GTA 6 on PC: the launch date could unfold at the first quarter of 2027

By GTA6 Hub editorial team

The positive news for PC players does not end here. A new report from GamesBeat suggests that the wait for the exploration of the world of “Grand Theft Auto VI” could be shorter than expected. The PC version of the title, strongly expected, should arrive in the first quarter of 2027, between January and March. Rockstar Games hasn't made any statements about the report yet. A much lower time than “GTA 5”. “GTA 6” is set for launch on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, without a PC version at the time of release. If GamesBeat's predictions were correct, PC players would only have two to four months to access the game. A significant change compared to installing “GTA 5”, which debuted on September 17, 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, arriving on PC only on April 14, 2015, about 19 months later. The release was very long. Rockstar unveiled the game with a trailer of December 2023, which showed a modern vision on Vice City in the fiction Leonida, also presenting Lucia and Jason, the two protagonists of the title. The launch was postponed twice before arriving at the scheduled date for November. The importance of PC players has never been so great. The PC gaming market has grown dramatically over the last 13 years since “GTA 5” debuted, with Steam regularly setting new records for the number of online players at the same time, as Forbes points out. The data shows it: PC players make up about 42% of the audience of “GTA 5”, exceeding PlayStation (35%) and Xbox (23%). This growth was powered by mod and "GTA Online", where roleplay servers remain extremely popular on PC. Separate waiting times involve compromises for Rockstar. On the one hand, separate launch dates encourage some fans to buy the game twice, once on console and then on PC. On the other hand, some players could postpone the purchase of the game to release in PC, which could reduce initial sales. A shorter gap could fill this difference, avoiding making PC fans excluded for too long, while maintaining an advantage to players on consoles. What about “GTA 6 Online”? Another key question concerns online mode. Rockstar has not yet released information about “GTA 6 Online”, even with the launch of the game a short distance. When “GTA 5” came out, its online mode followed only two weeks later, on October 1, 2013. When the game arrived on PC, "GTA Online" was released the same day. Things could go different this time. The Rockstar team could focus mainly on the completion of the main game and a large community of players remains active in the current version of “GTA Online”, giving less pressure to the studio to speed up the release of a new online mode. There are no indications that “GTA 6 Online” should exit immediately after the main game or before the end of 2026. However, Paul Tassi of Forbes suggested that a PC launch at the first quarter of 2027 could be the ideal time to launch online mode on all platforms simultaneously.
