Miami-Dade County has started an unpublished collaboration with Rockstar Games, aiming to transform some of its most iconic places into settings directly inspired by Vice City, the imaginary city that will be the background to Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited new chapter of the saga. The game, scheduled for November 2026, lit the excitement and the county seems willing to exploit it to the fullest. The project, formalized through a presentation delivered to Rockstar on June 29 – as reported by the head of The Miamian – provides an intersection between the world of play and the real world, transforming public infrastructure into immersive sceneries. The proposal includes the redesign of the Miami International Airport, with a specially decorated aircraft and set up as a tribute to the title, as well as conveyor belts of luggage and billboards. For the city center is expected the use of Metromover wagons covered with the colors and logos of the game, with dedicated signs at the main stations. The light metro and Metrorail will also be involved, with artistic interventions aimed at making the experience more evocative. But it does not end here: the cargo terminal of the port of Miami will be the scene of a mural inspired by the fictitious district of Port Gellhorn, while on the beach of Rickenbacker it is hypothesized the creation of a panoramic point with view on Biscayne Bay. Finally, the Tropical Park could host an event dedicated to the automotive culture of Miami, with vintage cars and motorcycles, designed for a familiar audience. The idea, which has its roots in Miami history as a source of inspiration for the aesthetics of Vice City, aims to exploit the success of the new game to attract visitors to the real places that have generated it.
