Cyberleek and the Leak of GTA VI: A wave of Images and an Anti-Consumer Manifesto that Shades Markets

Since August 18, Cyberleek has flooded the network with videos and screenshots stolen from a playable build of Grand Theft Auto VI. The title, waited for, was at the center of this early revelation thanks to the presence of the protagonist Jason Duval, which you see driving on the highway, playing basketball, facing fighting and flying on a small plane within the imaginary state of Leonida. In one of the most recent films, released on August 20, the character wrote the word "LEEK" against a bullet wall, confirming the origin of the leak. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not yet issued official statements on the authenticity of the images, but acted quickly, starting legal proceedings for copyright infringement on videos circulated on social networks. Despite these actions, movies continued to spread widely, indirectly suggesting their veracity. A manifesto against the practices of the video industry Cyberleek accompanied the leak with a manifesto that denounces practices considered "anti-consumer": the abolition of digital bookings without independent reviews, the end of downloadable content at a fee that fragmentates the experience in a single player and the guarantee of offline access to purchased content. An appeal now shared by many independent enthusiasts and youtuber, including the Italian Davide Persiani (aka Falconero), who for years has highlighted incorrect anomalies and practices in the field. The Cyberleek Group has stated that it will continue to spread material until Rockstar and Take-Two do not apologize publicly and demonstrate a concrete commitment to change. To further feed the clamor, Cyberleek launched an amateur cryptocurrency without guaranteed value, whose price is determined by the interest of users who buy it and exchange it. Presented as a funding for a "mystery project" to support the rights of video players, the initiative has been interpreted by many as an attempt to exploit the media attention generated by the leak to get profits. A significant impact on financial markets The consequences of the leak were heavily felt in the markets. The title Take-Two Interactive has undergone a decline of 6.3% in less than two days, with a loss of market capitalization of approximately 2.83 billion dollars. TTWO shares closed the session at $ 240.15, marking partial recovery.
