Rockstar Games: A decade of Riadattamenti and Porting – From 2014 to GTA VI

In the last ten years, Rockstar Games has consolidated its position as a leader in the video industry through a targeted strategy that combined the revival of iconic titles with the arrival of new gaming experiences. From Grand Theft Auto III to the next chapter, GTA VI, we have witnessed an impressive evolution of the New York company, marked by a continuous flow of reissues, porting and innovative projects. After more than ten years since the launch of Grand Theft Auto V – when Michael's first emules, Trevor and Franklin began their adventures in Los Santos on September 17, 2013 – Rockstar has capitalized the huge success of GTA 5, transforming the Grande R into an industry giant. The loyalty of the community has fueled a vast commercial operation, realized in the arrival on the market of numerous titles and adapted versions. From the release of the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for iOS and Android in 2014, to the porting of GTA Chinatown Wars on the same system in 2014, to the release of GTA Liberty City Stories on iOS and Android in 2015, Rockstar expanded its audience with a series of adaptations. In 2015, the company also launched the PC version of GTA 5 and GTA Online, further consolidating the success of the game. Commemorative editions such as Bully Anniversary Edition for iOS and Android (2016) and new versions of L.A. Noire (on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2017), including VR experiences with The VR Case Files, showed Rockstar's will to keep his intellectual property alive. In 2021, the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition was released for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, a controversial project, but it was an important return to Rockstar's past. Later, in 2022, GTA 5 was released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while the 2023 saw the release of Red Dead Redemption for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, as well as the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition for iOS and Android. In parallel to these projects, Rockstar Games continued to expand its intellectual property with titles such as Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, demonstrating an adaptive ability and constant attention to the needs of the public. With the expectation of GTA VI, it is clear that Rockstar will continue to reinvent and surprise fans with new immersive experiences.
