Rockstar Games opens free Wynwood Walls entry to Miami residents in view of the launch of GTA VI

Rockstar Games, the game developer behind “Grand Theft Auto VI”, offers locals the opportunity to visit Wynwood in reality before exploring the virtual equivalent next month. The video game company collaborated with Wynwood Walls to offer free admission to the museum to residents of Miami-Dade County from Tuesday 13 October 2028. Residents must present a valid ID with a Miami-Dade address to qualify. Vice City, the fictional version of Miami in “GTA VI”, includes an area called “Stockyard”, which is based on Wynwood. Now, some of the art works created for the digital version are finding a real house inside the neighborhood that inspired it. Visitors can see ten new murals with original works of art commissioned for “GTA VI”, some of which are housed in Wynwood Walls and others scattered around the neighborhood. The works will be exhibited until 1 January 2027. Produced by Goldman Global Arts, the creative collective founded by Wynwood Walls curator Jessica Goldman Srebnick, the mural project presents works by Miami Atomik and Tatiana Suarez artists along with international names such as Askew One, Denial, Faile, Gons and Audet, Lady Aiko, Queen Andrea, Ron English and Tristan Eaton. According to the statement by Wynwood Walls that announced the partnership, the artists' works are also spread in the game along with the contributions of other street artists and tattooists curated by 1XRUN, the creative and public art producer agency based in Detroit. A collection of merchandising inspired by the in-game art of 15 artists is available and can be pre-ordered in the online store of Wynwood Walls. Merchandising includes water bottles, shirts, flakes, hats, key rings and more. "I am full of gratitude to Rockstar Games for their visionary support to this initiative," said Goldman Srebnick in a statement. "Their commitment to creativity, support to arts and love for Miami reflects ours, making them an ideal partner to share Walls with people who call this home city. " The commitment of local artists and institutions could calm the nerves of players who have long wondered how Rockstar will represent Vice City and its state of Leonida, which is modeled on Florida. “GTA VI” is scheduled for release on November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
