Netflix and Rockstar Games unveil an exclusive preview of Grand Theft Auto VI

Rockstar Games has signed an unprecedented partnership with Netflix for the launch of “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, an extended preview of the long-awaited game. The content will be available on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 21:00 (Italian time), and later on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games and on the GTA VI website. The preview, still unspecified duration, will present unpublished gameplay and insights into the production of the game. The announcement took place at 13 years from the launch of Grand Theft Auto V, in conjunction with the start of Netflix’s investments in original content. Brandon Riegg, vice president of Netflix’s Nonfiction Series division, called the reveal of Grand Theft Auto “real cultural events”, underlining the importance of waiting around the sixth chapter. The collaboration between the two companies represents, according to Riegg, a step towards the vision of Netflix as a platform capable of hosting ambitious narratives, regardless of the medium. Despite enthusiasm, some professionals and enthusiasts have expressed criticism of the operation, defining it as a risky marketing strategy for the brevity of the exclusive time window offered by Netflix. Several observers fear that this choice can open a worrying precedent in the video industry, comparable to the publication of promotional trailers for paid games. The new chapter of Grand Theft Auto will take place in the imaginary state of Leonida and will revolve around the events of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, involved in a criminal conspiracy. The game is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The pre-order editions are already available at the price of 79.99 euros for the standard edition and 99.99 euros for the Ultimate.
