Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming adventure-action game developed and published by Rockstar Games. It will be the eighth main chapter of the Grand Theft Auto saga, after Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, and the 16th in total. Set in the US fictional state of Leonida, based on Florida, the story follows the criminal couple of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Players can wander freely in the open world of Leonida, which presents an inspiration in Miami, Vice City. The initial development began after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, following years of preliminary work, and the main production began in 2020. Rockstar's global development teams have more than doubled from Red Dead Redemption 2. Miami and its surrounding areas have been widely studied for the game, which parodys the American culture of the 2020s. The dynamics of the protagonists are inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, and the unplayable characters (NPC) were written to ensure players experience different areas of Vice City. After years of speculation and anticipation, Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the game was under development. In September of the same year, fragments from unfinished versions are leaked, described by journalists as one of the most important escapes in the history of the video industry. Grand Theft Auto VI was officially revealed in December 2023. After two delays and further releases, the scheduled release date is November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Gameplay Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player action-adventure game set in an open world that can be played from a third-person perspective such as Jason Duval or Lucia Caminos. Players can choose to fight unplayable characters (NPC), steal vehicles, rob commercial activities or drive at full speed with the police.[1][3] During free wandering, players have different options for activities, such as parachute, wrestling, basketball, exercise and scuba diving.[5][6][7] In the course of the game, players will be able to increase or decrease weight both Jason and Lucia, and if the player remains awake as one of the two characters for whole days, it will be visible on their face.[8] The game will have a system of "Criminal Reputation" that traces the reputation of each playable character based on his actions, similar to the honor system previously used in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018).[9] Rockstar said that this system is not intended to represent Lucia and Jason as "good people", but traces whether each character maintains his professional crimes or commits unnecessary violence with play consequences reflecting his reputation. ♪ 10) In free roaming, such as Jason or Lucia, players can choose to split the two to go do their activities independently or stay together, spend time and do activities together. [11] Their relationship will depend on player actions[12] and, according to Rockstar, it will be optional.[13] Grand Theft Auto VI will present a fully integrated social media app called Snapmatic.
