It is the largest-largest natural freshwater lake among the 50 states of the United States and the largest natural freshwater lake contained entirely within the contiguous 48 states, excluding Lake Michigan which is connected to Lake Huron. The name Okeechobee comes from the Hitchiti words oki (water) and chubi (big). Already appeared in a previous chapter of the series (GTA V): The existence of the lake was first revealed in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, where its name was seen on a highway sign along Interstate 97. Lake Leonida was later officially showcased in an official screenshot of Ambrosia.
