The film, titled “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, will be initially broadcast on Netflix and reissued six hours after 3:00 a.m. on August 28 on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games. The announcement was published on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on August 6, immediately creating great interest in the community. La decisione di concentrare il debutto su Netflix e YouTube, con la riproposizione sei ore dopo, mi convince poco. Sembra un tentativo un po’ disperato per creare buzz, puntando sulla novità dell’esclusiva piuttosto che sul contenuto stesso del trailer. L'operazione microsito all'interno di Netflix, anche se in fase di allestimento, suggerisce una volontà di sfruttare al massimo l'interesse generato dal debutto simultaneo. L'anticipazione su Vice City e Port Gellhorn, come indicato nel titolo dell’evento, è un dettaglio interessante. Mi pare che la narrazione del gioco si concentri molto su Leonida e le operazioni militari in Grassrivers, ma l'inclusione di queste due location già citate nel trailer è giustificata – e forse mirata a creare un contrasto con il resto della mappa, aprendo ad altre possibili aree di esplorazione. La menzione di Jason Duval e Lucia Caminos mi fa pensare che i personaggi principali del gioco siano ancorati in maniera più solida ai contesti specifici indicati, piuttosto che operare in una narrazione globale come abbiamo visto in altri capitoli della saga. L'analisi delle nuove meccaniche di gameplay, a quanto pare, sarà uno dei focus dell’“Extended Look”, il che è un aspetto cruciale da tenere d'occhio per capire se Rockstar stia effettivamente puntando su innovazioni significative o solo su variazioni del solito gameplay GTA.
