ESRB Classifies GTA VI: "M for Mature" and Reassurance on Microtransactions

Grand Theft Auto VI received the official classification from ESRB, confirming the rating “M for Mature” (17+ in the United States) and PEGI 18 for Europe. The term of the classification agency lists content such as “blood and mutilation, intense violence, mature humour, nudity, strong language, strongly sexual content and use of drugs and alcohol”, in line with the tradition of the franchise. The announcement rekindled discussions in the community about the evolution of the relationship between the two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and the possibilities offered by the open world of Leonida. The description of the ESRB also mentions the presence of “in-game purchases”, but Rockstar Games has already reassured that at the launch of the game there will be no microtransactions. This would probably refer to digital upgrade to the Ultimate Edition, to access additional missions and aesthetic content. Future DLC is not excluded. Despite ESRB specifications, some noises from past years suggested a more cautious approach to politically incorrect issues. However, the presence of humor for adults, nudity and violence indicates that Rockstar Games did not intend to limit the content of the new chapter. Grand Theft Auto VI will officially debut on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
