GTA VI preorder on Amazon: the guaranteed minimum price and the "Vintage Vice City"
The preorder of Grand Theft Auto VI is now available on Amazon, with an offer of 17% that reduces the cost to 69.99 euros (price at the time of writing). The standard version allows you to download the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. One aspect not to be neglected is the physical content: the package does not include any disk, but only a code for digital download. The guaranteed minimum price of Amazon ensures that you will always pay the lowest price reached from the game until 19 November, date of launch. This eliminates the risk of paying more than due if a discount appears in the following months. Nostalgic fans will appreciate the inclusion in the preorder of the "Vintage Vice City", a free package that evokes the atmosphere of the first game set in Vice City, in the 1980s. The package includes vintage cars, clothing and motifs for retro style weapons. Grand Theft Auto VI will present Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as protagonists, a couple of criminals involved in a robbery that will force them to collaborate to survive in the scenario of Port Gellhorn, inspired by Florida but set in the new imaginary state of Leonida. The game will be available exclusively in single player mode. The key date remains on 19 November 2026. Non mi convince affatto l’omaggio a “Vintage Vice City”. Non è che io non apprezzi il richiamo all’atmosfera degli anni ’80, e ammetto che l’idea di auto d’epoca e armi in stile retrò potrebbe promettere qualche momento divertente. Però, visto il contesto del gioco – Port Gellhorn, Leonida, la collaborazione forzata tra Duval e Caminos – mi sembra un’aggiunta quantomeno stonata. Vice City è un capitolo a sé stante, un'esplosione di colori e ritmi frenetici che ha plasmato l'immaginario collettivo dei fan della saga. Questo, per quanto possa essere un buon easter egg, rischia di sminuire la profondità narrativa che Rockstar sembra voler dare a GTA VI. E poi, il fatto che l’omaggio si concentri solo sugli anni ’80 mi fa pensare che stiano puntando su un target specifico, forse più legato alla nostalgia dell'utente piuttosto che una vera e propria integrazione nel mondo del gioco. Resta da vedere se questo pacchetto omaggio avrà un impatto significativo sull’esperienza di gioco o sarà relegato a un semplice curiosità collezionistica, come talvolta è successo con i contenuti bonus dei capitoli precedenti.
