The new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, called “An Extended Look”, will be featured on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 21:00 (Italian time). As announced by Rockstar Games, the film, which might well not be just a trailer, will have an exclusive availability limited to six hours via Netflix, then become accessible free of charge on YouTube and the official website of the video game. The preview of “An Extended Look” will offer fans a first taste of the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto VI, with particular attention to Vice City and Port Gellhorn, including details of new cars such as Vapid Stanier and environments such as Ambrosia and Ocean Beach. The debut will be followed by a release on YouTube and Rockstar, allowing all interested parties to enjoy the new content. The preview is expected with great interest by the community of GTA VI, composed of key figures such as Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos, Cal Hampton and Raul Bautista, as well as enthusiastic players waiting to discover more details about the plot, characters and game mechanics. L’accordo tra Netflix e Rockstar Games sembra un colpo di mano, e mi convince poco l’idea di una “esclusiva limitata a sei ore” su Netflix. Non è la prima volta che vedo contenuti esclusivi temporanei in streaming, e la tendenza è quella di incentivare gli abbonamenti con questo tipo di offerte a breve termine. Però, considerando il peso dell'operazione con Rockstar, e soprattutto tenendo conto del fatto che l’anteprima sarà disponibile anche su YouTube e sul sito ufficiale, mi sembra una mossa studiata per massimizzare la visibilità del gioco, alimentando l’hype prima dell’uscita. Vedo già i fan come Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos e Raul Bautista prepararsi a colpire le notifiche di YouTube: non è raro che queste anteprime generino un vertice di interesse immediato, soprattutto considerando che il focus è su Vice City e Port Gellhorn - entrambi ambienti ricchi di potenziale per missioni secondarie e attività illegali. Il debutto alle 21:00 (ora italiana) sul sito Rockstar coincide con la fine della serata, il che suggerisce un'intenzione di coinvolgere un pubblico ampio, forse anche quelli che lavorano durante la giornata.
