GTA VI: The Day/Through Night Cycle Changes Everything?

An almost negligible detail, the watch on the GTA VI's minimum, triggered a surprising analysis: the day/night cycle of the new game lasts about three times longer than that of GTA 5. According to estimates derived from video leaks – still unconfirmed – a whole day in the game would extend for about 144 real minutes, against the 48 minutes of Los Santos. The measurement is taken from a film in which the clock on the minimum shows clearly the passage from 7:29 to 7:30 in only six seconds. From here, a simple mathematical operation suggests that every minute of play corresponds to six seconds in the real world. This extended cycle has significant implications for gameplay. Longer days involve gradual transitions between light and dark, with sunrises and sunsets that really last, not only two-minute flashes. This change also affects activity management: missions could be linked to precise times, open or closed shops according to the time of day, and character behaviors would change accordingly. All this would be much more realistic than the hectic pace of GTA 5, where time was almost a decorative element. It is important to emphasize that it is estimates based on a few seconds of filming and therefore subject to significant errors. The cycle may not be uniform throughout the day, and Rockstar may introduce time changes to fit the context. Meanwhile, the presentation of the game on Netflix remains fixed on August 27, despite the continuous leaks of the last few weeks. Rockstar seems willing to follow the original plan, without letting slips like in the past.
