Daft Punk at Fortnite Festival: The Speculation on an Unexpected Return

The dream of millions of fans could soon become reality: according to the latest indiscretions, Daft Punk could come back together for a special performance within the Fortnite video game. The user of X @StreamFNBR, a well-known video game-related noise expert, reported that the French electronic music duo might be the next protagonist of Fortnite Festival, the music mode inside the game hosting live events with DJ, rapper and popstar. It has been a long-awaited moment for years: since 2021, when the Daft Punk announced the dissolution through the videoclip ‘Epilogue’, the duo has limited itself to publishing archival material and alternative versions of songs he edited. This could be their first official performance since 2007, except for the Grammy Awards. Although there were no official confirmations from Epic Games (the developer of Fortnite) or Daft Punk, the interest of the Fortnite universe for music is witnessed by the success of virtual concerts by artists such as Travis Scott, Eminem, Diplo and many others who performed in the video game. The union between the futuristic imagination of Daft Punk and the gaming world seems to make this hypothesis particularly plausible. It remains to be seen whether this speculation will result in a reality.
