Map GTA VI: Rockstar Forgets Theory on Theme Park

Rockstar Games suggested that the map of Grand Theft Auto VI might not include direct equivalents of the most popular theme parks in Central Florida. Clarification took place on September 29, when senior vice president of environmental art Paul MacPherson explained how Rockstar had selected locations for the fictitious state of Leonida. Fans have long wondered if Grand Theft Auto VI could include Rockstar's response to Walt Disney World or another important Florida resort. Discussions about the escapes, unofficial reconstructions of the map and Reddit theories helped keep the idea alive. However, MacPherson did not say that GTA 6 would contain any amusement park or tourist attractions. His comments were rather about whether the famous real-world locations would have received direct fictitious equivalents. Game Informer asked Rockstar about Central Florida and the theme parks associated closely with the area. MacPherson said that the development team had to balance a wide range of environments while deciding what would appear in Leonida. These choices also needed to serve game design and narrative. “We must constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, cities, structures, monuments, views, plant species, rock formations and everything else before working with design and narrative to distill a list that best works and serves the needs of the game,” MacPherson said. He then offered the clearest indication that some recognizable Florida locations may not have direct equivalents. “So, even if we may not have those exact positions, all we have is aimed at getting that full Florida experience!” He said. This indicates that players should not expect any popular Florida destination to be recreated within Leonida. It does not stipulate that all possible theme parks, fairs or similar structures have not been excluded. This approach also reflects the broadest challenge facing Rockstar. Leonida draws inspiration from Florida, but the study is not trying to reproduce the status position by location. Instead, MacPherson's exposure suggests that developers have selected landscapes, settlements and monuments based on what worked for the game itself. The interest in a Disney-type destination started a long time before MacPherson faced the construction process of the Rockstar map. Discussions between fans after GTA VI's 2022's main escape highlighted references that some players interpreted as possible clues about a location connected to 'Fairyland'. Community discussions also referred to the label "Fairyland Forest Puzzle". None of these references led to an official announcement that Rockstar was developing a parody of Walt Disney World. However, the theory persisted while fans tried to reconstruct the geography of Leonida from unofficial information and subsequent promotions.
