Rockstar admits: the map of GTA VI is so vast that even developers know it all

Grand Theft Auto VI promises an unprecedented open world experience, and the revelations of Rockstar Games developers confirm that it is a real revolution. As Rob Nelson, responsible for Rockstar's development and co-head, not even game developers have full knowledge of the extension of the game world, Leonida. "I think the challenge for us, with this game, is the same as every new game we make," Nelson explained. “How can we evolve and build on the positive things we have done in the past, in all the ways in which these things must evolve, but at the same time make sure that the game preserves everything that has done on people in the previous chapters of the series?” A particularly complex balance, especially considering the expectations accumulated over a decade of waiting. The aim of Rockstar is therefore to create a significant evolution of the GTA formula, while maintaining the key elements that have made the saga famous: chaos, comedy, freedom and the constant feeling of discovery. The map of Leonida, described as three times larger than Red Dead Redemption 2, along with the vastness of content and activities scattered within it, suggests an unparalleled immersive experience. As Nelson admitted, "The game is so great that I don't know if there is anyone in the team who knows every part of it." This statement, in view of Rockstar's maniacal attention for the construction of its open worlds, allows a potentially unlimited number of secrets to be revealed. After thirteen years since the release of GTA V, Rockstar seems to have exploited this long period of development to maximise the idea of open world, creating an environment designed to reward exploration and discovery. The team estimated that a full match could take about 80 hours. It remains to be seen if each angle of Leonida will actually surprise players. GTA VI is expected on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
