GTA 6 and Netflix: Is the deal worth between 80 and 100 million dollars?

The deal between Rockstar Games and Netflix for the preview projection of the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto VI could prove to be a dizziness affair. According to the estimates of the junk Tom Henderson, the exclusive temporary streaming platform would have yielded Rockstar and Take-Two a figure of 80 million and over $100 million. This is the game’s Extended Look, whose debut is set for August 27, 2026 on Netflix, anticipating a few hours its release on traditional channels. Henderson estimated that the operation could have already generated revenues comparable to the sale of over a million copies of the game, assuming a basic price of 80 dollars. Although it is not a definitive figure, the insider does not exclude a compensation exceeding 100 million. The understanding bears witness to the importance that Rockstar is contributing to the GTA 6 promotional campaign, exploiting the global reach of Netflix to ensure visibility to the game well beyond the audience of video game enthusiasts. This choice sparked a lively debate among players, especially because the video will not be immediately available on the Rockstar channels. The exclusive time appears consistent with a strategy aimed at transforming each communication on the game into an event. Despite the prudent estimates of CEO Strauss Zelnick, who avoided divulging detailed sales data yet to be consolidated, it is evident the ability of GTA 6 to generate interest and move important figures before its release. The Extended Look of August 27 will then announce itself as a test bench for this new promotion model.
