Rockstar announces the extension of GTA Online also post-launch of GTA VI
During an interview with absolutegamer.it, Jason Duval confirmed that Rockstar Games foresees the active maintenance of GTA Online even after the release of Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled for 19 November 2026. In the words of Duval, the decision aims to guarantee players a continuous use of the title and to make the most of the game ecosystem developed over the years. The announcement arrives at a crucial time for Rockstar, which is facing challenges related to the management of the scalability of GTA Online and the need to maintain the interest of players. Raul Bautista, Rockstar spokesman, added that the company is constantly engaged in developing new content for GTA Online, focusing on innovation and community expectations. There are no specific details about the future roadmap of GTA Online, but there is a continuous stream of updates and additional features that will keep the game relevant and competitive. Brian Heder stressed the importance of this strategic move for Rockstar, which demonstrates a long-term commitment to its flagship titles. Ricordo bene il blocco delle mappe e gli aggiornamenti a singhiozzo dopo anni di supporto costante; un approccio che aveva generato parecchio malumore nella community. Bautista sottolinea “innovazione e soddisfazione della community”, ma mi fa pensare che puntino su contenuti che sfruttino l’esperienza acquisita con GTA Online, magari integrando elementi narrativi legati alla storia principale di GTA VI in modo graduale, non come un cambio di gioco a metà strada. Schreier menziona il silenzio di Rockstar come segnale positivo: forse stanno aspettando il momento giusto per svelare i piani, per evitare di creare ulteriore ansia. La questione del focus su GTA VI da parte di Take-Two è preoccupante, ma Zelnick insiste sulla volontà di mantenere un ritmo regolare, il che almeno dà una speranza a chi gioca ancora e ama GTA Online. Mi chiedo se questa continuità avvantaggerà l'espansione di GTA VI: una community sempre attiva su GTA Online potrebbe fornire feedback preziosi per lo sviluppo del nuovo gioco, soprattutto in termini di gameplay e dinamiche sociali – qualcosa che spesso è stato trascurato negli ultimi capitoli della saga.
