GTA VI: Rockstar simulates the Florida with hurricanes and tropical storms at Leonida

Rockstar is finally unveiling the details that will animate the open world of GTA VI. In a large dossier for Game Informer, interviewed directly by the study managers, there have emerged numerous insights on the reconstruction of a Florida fiction, called Leonida. The project includes a vast and complex map, but above all a real meteorological simulation that includes localized rains, wet soils after rainfall, tropical storms and even hurricanes. The main objective is to create a dynamic world that is constantly evolving around the player, even when Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are not the focus of attention. A philosophy resumed also by the new GTA VI weapons system and the greater reactivity of unplayable characters (PNJ), much more developed than GTA 5. A key element is the use of localized weather systems, able to represent an incredibly detailed simulation: Jason or Lucia can be found in a completely dry and sunny area while observing from a distance a cloudy front that crosses Leonida. Clouds move across the world, creating different weather conditions depending on the player's position. This does not end here: weather events leave visible traces. After a rain, if the player returns to an area, he will find mud and wet surfaces, confirming the actual presence of water. Under certain light conditions, rainbows may appear. Tropical temples and hurricanes will be a reality in Leonida. Although the frequency and impact of these phenomena are still to be defined, it is expected that they can influence the gameplay, temporarily changing areas of the territory, interrupting traffic or even becoming part of the main plot. The map of Leonida will be about double the size of that of GTA 5. Aaron Garbut, head of development and co-director of Rockstar North, said this will represent the largest open map ever made by the studio.
