Fabulous collectionism or Money Spree? The "Vice City Collection" for GTA VI Costa More than 400 Euro
Rockstar Games announced the "Vice City Collection", an exclusive collection box that pays tribute to the game, but at a dizzying price: £399 / $400. This merchandising planter, presented as “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection”, is already available for pre-order on the Rockstar Store. And it does not include the video game, which will be sold separately. The collection, launched on 19 November, costs 349 pounds/399 dollars (about 660 AUD), and offers a series of collectors inspired by Leonida, protagonist of the TV series "Macca the Gator". The package includes a plush of Macca the Coccodrillo, Oakley FrogskinsTM glasses, a shoulder bag Leonida Keys, a New Era 9FORTY Snapback hat, a magnetic mirror, shot glasses with Chunkee the Manatee, teaspoons of mixing Vice City, USB keys Vice City, a set of pins Leonida Keys in metal, a double-sided package The discovery of the "Vice City Collection" took place thanks to a leak on GTAForums, made public by the 'videotech' leaker on X. Initially it was thought that the collection included also the game, but Rockstar confirmed that the title will be sold separately. Despite the hype around the launch of GTA VI on November 19, and the recent presentation of the official song of the soundtrack “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album”, the enthusiasm for this collection edition was partly disappointed by its high price. It remains to be seen if Rockstar will announce further editions or new surprises before the game is released. VERDETTO: MISTO La “Vice City Collection” è un esercizio di marketing costoso e, ammettiamolo, un po’ sconcertante. Il prezzo di 399 dollari/400 sterline per un insieme di oggetti da collezione legati a un titolo che esce tra meno di due mesi è decisamente strano, specialmente considerando che il gioco stesso non fa parte dell'offerta. L’inclusione del peluche di “Macca the Gator”, ovviamente ispirato alla serie TV omonima (e quindi in realtà al personaggio di Leonida), risulta un'aggiunta a sé stante, quasi come un easter egg esagerato per i fan più accaniti, ma il valore complessivo dell’offerta è innegabilmente elevato, soprattutto considerando le recenti notizie che riguardano l’hype intorno all’uscita ufficiale del gioco e alla nuova colonna sonora. Il fatto che la collezione sia stata resa pubblica tramite un leak su GTAForums da parte di ‘videotech’ suggerisce una certa mancanza di controllo della comunicazione da parte di Rockstar, anche se hanno prontamente chiarito che il gioco sarà venduto separatamente. Non si tratta di un errore grave, ma solleva interrogativi sulla gestione del prodotto e sull'anticipazione del lancio.
