GTA 6 is now much more than just a video game. It is consolidating itself as a force test for Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive, as well as one of the most anticipated events in the entertainment industry. The wait is not only about the release of the new chapter of the saga, but Rockstar's ability to shape a universe, imagined and analyzed by players for over ten years. Since its release in 2013, GTA V has dominated the sales charts, keeping the community alive through GTA Online and solidifying the Grand Theft Auto brand as an absolute landmark in the open world genre. This longevity has made the wait for GTA VI even more intense: it is not simply a sequel, but a new technical, narrative and commercial point of reference. In this complex scenario, the words of Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take Two Interactive, who expressed a “true fear” in front of the amount of expectations, deserve attention. This is not an alarm on the state of the game, but a realistic picture of the pressure around the project. The postponement amplified the wait, but the fulcrum lies in the fact that GTA 6 will have to confront an idea of unreachable perfection for any title. The recent marketing step intensified by Rockstar suggests a strategy aimed at preparing the global launch of the game. With GTA 6 set between Vice City and the state of Leonida, the expectation of players is focused on a modern representation of an exasperated, social, chaotic and recognizable world. This expectation creates a particular dynamic: the more the game is at the center of conversations, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish the official promises of Rockstar from the expectations built by the community. Much of these expectations comes from the trailers, from the history of the series, from noise and the collective desire to overcome every known limit. The role of social networks in this context is intended to be fundamental: Vice City will not only be a gaming environment, but also a stage for social interactions, commerce and narrative that will define the GTA VI experience.
