GTA 6 PS5: Download Size Officially Revealed - 210GB Requested

Rockstar Games will need 210 GB of free space on your PS5 SSD to install Grand Theft Auto 6, released on November 19th. This figure has been revealed by internal data at the PlayStation Store, which monitors file size while uploading to Sony servers for launch. For comparison, this amount represents about one third of the entire 825GB PS5 SSD, leaving space for the operating system and other installed software. Many players will then need to clean their hard drive before November 19th. The download size is justified by the ambitious Rockstar Games project. GTA 6 develops on a vast open world in fictitious Florida, rich in secondary activities that far exceed those offered by most open world games. In addition to a cinematic plot of many hours, high quality audio and textures optimized for the current hardware, 210 GB seem a natural result of the project's reach. For comparison, the Call of Duty series often exceeds 200GB to the download, despite the possibility of removing single packages of unused content. GTA 6 may not offer the same flexibility, especially with the arrival of GTA Online. The online-component will use the same map and asset of the only campaign, making the “surgical” removal of parts of the download more complex. It is still unclear whether Rockstar will include a launch patch in these 210 GB or will provide it as the next update. Given the amount of the match, an initial patch seems likely and could further increase the total footprint. The predilation available from 12 November offers a week to download the full package before the launch of 19 November. This time frame is reasonable, but depends on the speed of the internet connection. At a download speed of 100 Mbps, the installation would take about five hours. With slower connections, it is recommended to start as soon as the predilation will be available. It is essential to control the free space on your PS5 SSD. If you use the 825GB base disk without expansion, you may need to cut some important titles before November 12 to release space.
