Grand Theft Auto 6 will require a 210GB download on the PS5, making it one of the largest daily installations on the platform for its launch on November 19th. The information was obtained from internal data of the PlayStation store that trace the size of the files before the release. To have a precise idea, 210GB represent about one third of the basic SSD space of the PS5 (825 GB). This adds the operating system and other games already installed, so many players will have to clean up their files before November 19th. The download size is understandable considering the ambitious Rockstar Games project: GTA 6 is built on a densely populated open-world map, set in a fictitious Florida, with a myriad of secondary activities that exceed the expectations of most open world games. A multi-hour film experience, high-fidelity audio and a level of detail of the textures that push the next generation hardware to the maximum justify this dimension, which does not seem excessive. By comparison, the Call of Duty series often reaches 200GB when all content is installed, although at least in the latter case you can uninstall individual content packages. GTA 6 may not offer the same flexibility, especially once GTA Online arrives. The online component shares the same map and asset with single-player mode, making file removal complex. Note that Rockstar has not yet confirmed whether 210GB download includes an initial patch or if it is added as additional content. Given the breadth of the game, a patch at the exit seems likely and, if released separately, the total could exceed 210 GB. The pre-loading will start on November 12, offering players a week to download the entire package before the launch of November 19. A reasonable period, provided that the internet connection is able to manage the download: at a speed of 100 Mbps, 210GB take about five hours. With slower connections, it is advisable to start the pre-download as soon as possible. It is important to immediately check the available space on the PS5. If you use an 825 GB base disk without expansion, you may need to remove some large games before the start of pre-loading on November 12. For players who want to make the most of the exclusive features of the PS5, the complete guide to DualSense, Tempest 3D audio features and GTA VI integrated speakers explains exactly how these elements enrich the experience. And if you have not yet booked a copy, the GTA VI pre-order guide provides all the information about the dates, the editions and how to buy it. The large size of the GTA 6 file is a useful reminder for space consumption on the PS5.
